Worrying Is A Waste Of Time

Hello all! How are we half way through the week already? This week and this whole year is flying by! Now hands up, who is guilty of worrying a lot? I bet most of you put your hand up, right? Don’t worry I am guilty too. I am a worrier to the extreme, it’s something that all of us do.

Today I’m going to be sharing with you reasons why worrying is pointless. Of course I don’t expect this post to magically stop you all from worrying. I think it’s a natural part of human nature. But at least the next time you are worrying you can remember this post and hopefully feel a little bit better.

1.       Worrying doesn’t change anything.

No matter how much we worry about a situation it does not change it in any way, except maybe for the worst. So next time you are worrying just remember that worrying won’t change anything so take a few deep breaths.

2.       Worrying makes you ill
Being worried can make you feel very poorly. I always get a headache when I’m worrying about something or the other. There are studies which suggest the damage worry and stress does to your body can never be undone. So remember that your health is more important than whatever it is that you’re worrying about.

3.       Worrying can make you irrational
              The amount of times I’ve leapt into something because of worrying is crazy and with the majority of these situations if I had just stopped and relaxed the situation would had resolved itself.

4.       Worrying adds more problems
I don’t know about you but when I’m worrying my brain seems to find another 100 things to be worried about. Making the situation 100 times worse.

5.       One year rule
              In most circumstances the things that you are worrying about won’t matter to you in a years’ time. Yes, it’s hard to look to the future when you are worried but most of the time we worry about something that isn’t going to be a big part of your life and won’t matter soon enough.

I know it’s hard to think clearly when you’re worried but next time you are try to remember these points and that things will get better.

  1. When I was a lot younger I stressed about everything! I remember my first year at University I worried so much I caused myself to have insomnia! As I've gotten older and I've seen time and again how things work themselves out no matter whether I worry I not, I've definitey scaled back on the stressing out!
